Located at the base of the Acropolis in the Plaka, the oldest section of Athens, is a charming workshop and gallery where artisan Sofia Gkani creates intricately detailed replicas of classical Greek vessels. Beautifully hand-painted, Sofia meticulously reproduces Corinthian, Geometric, Red or Black Figure designs on each unique terracotta piece. Each vessel is signed and numbered by the artist.

This reproduction is of a Greek vase in the form of a pitcher or jug and is done in the animal style. The use of animals is the predominant decorative pattern on the painted pitcher featuring real animals such as birds and goats or imaginary figures such as sphinxes and griffins.
